Platform Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Operating Systems

Today I read a post on ModMyi about Intel’s new Ultrabook.  The Windows vs Mac (OS X, and iPad) debate already started in the comments on their article.  Instead of chiming in there, or re-posting their article here, I decided to just write a general post, on my thoughts on Windows vs Mac. I’m even throwing Linux into the mix, since I use that too. Continue reading

Dealing With Snail Mail Spam

I absolutely hate spam.  It wastes my time, and now that I have 6 e-mail accounts pushed to my iPhone it even wakes me up. Luckily advances in software can handle spam rather well, but there is one kind that has been persistent over the years, and still gets through. Spam over regular mail.  I’ve found a clever way to deal with this, and it’s totally free, and legal. Continue reading

Never Surrender

“”Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense”……..Winston Churchill, Oct 29, 1941

I do not know the author of the following article but he has a point. Surrender is not an option and this article make a good case for that position. Continue reading

FBIRyuJin of Demonoid.me

So this morning I received an e-mail that I have a new message on YouTube.  Seeing as how I only have a handful of videos uploaded, and none of them are very popular, I was curious as to what it was.  Upon checking it I was disturbed as to the content of the message.

The Dumbest Thing On The Planet

I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a post on this site.  I apologize for that. I’ve been busy. (NO EXCUSES!)  Ok, so this morning I got to work, checked Twitter as I usually do, and saw this tweet from George Takei (@GeorgeTakei http://twitter.com/GeorgeTakei/status/159304835785703424) “This young filmmaker made my Spidey video. If you watch one clip today, let it be this. #SecondClassCitizens ow.ly/8ws2A”  This is a video showing how fear of gays over the years makes no sense.  Now I’m not going to start a post soley on gay rights.  I’m all for gay rights, but this post is going further.

How County Government Works

Working on the road:

A fellow stopped at a rural gas station and, after filling his tank, he paid the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola and he watched a couple of men working along the roadside. Continue reading

His Gentle Hands

He grasped me firmly, but gently, just above my elbow and guided
me into his room.

Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone. He approached me soundlessly,

from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear.

“Just relax.” Continue reading

Platform Wars Episode 1: The Competition Menace

(Note: This is an old post from my old blog. The original post date was 07/14/2011 Also yes, I forgot to talk about Windows 7 Mobile. Oops)

I am an iPhone user.  I’ve used iPhones since the iPhone 3G. I’ve also used Android.  I’ve played with Blackberry, and Windows Phone 7.  One thing I’ve noticed is that among the “Big Three” (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry) when a user of another platform sees your phone for the first time, Continue reading
